UFI Filters, a leader in filtration and thermal management technologies, has been confirmed a major contract with the supply of the diesel filter and pre-filter for the FPT F28 engine, awarded “Diesel of the year 2020“.
The 2.8-litre engine received this prestigious award due to its compactness, high productivity and low environmental impact, key strengths to which UFI filtration systems have also made a fundamental contribution. Type-approved in accordance with Stage V and Tier 3 Final standards, the powerful new FPT Industrial engine is designed for agricultural applications.
The pre-filter supplied by UFI has the fundamental function of filtering water residues from the fuel, as well as separating the coarsest particles. It features a mixed cellulose and synthetic filter media, and is equipped with a heater to facilitate start-up in low temperatures, a system that boosts productivity and reduces engine consumption, even on cold starts. In light of the fact that this is an agricultural engine, temperature management is of paramount importance. The pre-filter also comes with a water sensor that notifies the user that the spare part needs to be replaced when the product is no longer working optimally. The UFI pre-filter boasts a very high water-to-diesel separation capacity of over 95%, as well as a particle filtration efficiency of over 98%, with a working life of up to 1200 hours before it needs replacing.
The filter is supplied by UFI Filters as an original equipment component along with the pre-filter, and has a fine filtration function, with a separation capacity of more than 95% for particles up to 4μm, according to ISO 19438. The filter also has a crucial thermal management function; it is equipped with a temperature sensor to support the heater located on the pre-filter when starting up at low temperatures, thus contributing to a reduction in consumption and emissions. Used to filter out the finest particles (which represent the majority), the filter has a replacement interval of up to 600 working hours.
The two UFI Filters screw-in filters make servicing operations easy; indeed, these are already facilitated by the engine itself, the design of which allows maintenance to be carried out from just one side of the engine.
